Refractive Lens Exchange
Refractive lens exchange involves the surgical removal of the clear lens of your eye. In some cases, the lens may have an early cataract which does not significantly interfere with corrected vision. The eye surgeon, known as an ophthalmologist, surgically removes the natural lens of the eye and replaces it with an advanced intraocular lens implant (which is usually made of plastic, silicone, or acrylic material), in order to restore vision. For refractive lens surgery, typically a multifocal lens implant is selected to replace the natural lens, to deliver a fuller range of clear vision, near through far, allowing patients to spend most of their day glasses-free.
